Origins …
The Tibetan Terrier comes from high mountains of Tibet up to six thousand meters above sea level. He was considered as a lucky temple dog in Tibetan Monasteries and also as a guard dog. He was often accompanying
caravans in their long journeys through Tibet and China
General aspect…
The Tibetant Terrier is a medium sized dog of square proportions. His body is well muscled and compact. His weight will vary between 18 and 30 pounds and his size between 14 to 16 inches.
The double coat is profuse, long and thick, which permits him to support very cold temperatures.
The undercoat is like wool while the topcoat has a texture similar to goat hair when fully grown. His feet with their exceptional structure, will allow him to walk in places difficult of access for humans.
Tail is set high, well feathered, and carried in a curl over the back - it can show a break in the extremity.
Temperament…
The Tibetan Terrier is very intelligent and lively, he always seems to be happy.
He can be reserved around strangers but will not show any aggressivity or timidity. He knows how to make himself heard without being noisy. To summarize, he has a nice and devoted personality.
He is a good companion for kids who will respect him and should not be hasten or considered a toy. Good sport and cheerful he will have a good performance in agility contests. He will also like simple pleasures such as to go for walks.
